Our Sunday Meeting

Can anyone join in?

Yes, give it a try! You might find it suits you.

You’re welcome to come as you are – there’s no need to make contact in advance.

At the moment we do not have a Children’s Meeting.

When?

We gather on Sundays for about an hour, 11 am - 12 noon.

The start of the Meeting for Worship is when the first person enters the room, acknowledging that God is already there. We believe God can be met anywhere, and this room is not special or sacred, but it is the gathering together in reverent stillness that nourishes our need for inspiration.

A couple of Friends have responsibility for bringing the Meeting to a close.

What can I expect?

Each Meeting has a life of its own. Spoken contributions (which are called Ministry) are unplanned. Those listening will consider anything that is said, but not enter into debate. Reactions are just quietly absorbed: a contribution that one person finds insignificant might be full of meaning for someone else. Sometimes the hour will pass in unbroken silence.

Chairs are arranged in a circle, as this helps a feeling of togetherness and equality.

If you let the welcomer at the door know that this is your first experience of a Friends Meeting, you will be offered an introductory information sheet. We hope this will be helpful.
